The Lord Is My Song

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid; for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also has become my salvation.

2 Nephi 22:2
Isaiah 12:2 (KJV)

This verse is similar to Psalm 27, but just a little bit different.

Close enough to illustrate the poetry and music of Isaiah’s writing.

The Lord as light and protection is beautiful imagery. Echos of the cloud and pillar of light that guided the children of Israel out of Egypt (see Exodus 13:21).

But in one of the differences, I find delight, connection, and deep meaning.

The Lord is my song.

He is why I sing.

I am not a strong singer.

If I’m not careful every cold turns into bronchitis making it harder to gather enough air. Being hospitalized with COVID did not help.

I’m overly self-conscious, anxious, and fearful of singing in front of others.

And yet…

I sing.
